02What the nineteen years structure
Read Saturn’s placement before its daśā. When Śani is well-disposed (in its own signs, exalted in Tulā, or a yogakāraka in a kendra or koṇa), the period tends to deliver slow, durable gains: authority earned through labour, property, longevity, standing that does not evaporate when the daśā ends.
When Śani is afflicted (debilitated in Meṣa, combust, or in a duḥsthāna), the same years press on the bones, joints and teeth, on the career’s footing, and on the isolation Saturn is known for. The classical view is not fatalism: Saturn externalises structural weakness so it can be repaired. The antardaśā lord colours each chapter; the Guru sub-period commonly reads as relief within the long test.
