Who we are

This policy explains what Karma Jyotisha (“we”, operated by Aditya Sharma, an individual, from India) collects and why when you use this website, your account page and the Karma Jyotisha connector inside an AI app. Contact and grievance officer: Aditya Sharma, [email protected].

What we receive and why

• Birth details and other tool inputs. When you use Karma Jyotisha inside ChatGPT, Claude or another AI app, the app sends our server what a tool needs, for example a name or nickname, the date, time and place of birth, or a question topic. We use it only to calculate the result and send it back. We do not write these details, or the results, to our database or to our application logs, and they are held in memory only while the request is processed. The place name is turned into coordinates on our own server, not by a third party.
• Account details. Your email address (needed to sign in), your name if you give one, an access token for your connector, a one-time sign-in code (stored only as a hash) and, if you use the account page, a sign-in session.
• Older sign-up records. An earlier version of the ChatGPT sign-up step saved a small number of records, each holding an email address, a name, the source of the sign-up, a plan label and a sign-up date. The current service no longer writes them. Write to us to have yours deleted.
• Plan and usage. Your plan and its status, a monthly usage counter, and daily counts of how many times each tool, topic category and channel (for example ChatGPT or connector) was used, including a count per account per day. We use these to apply plan limits, support you, and understand which features are used. The counts record that a tool was used, not what you entered.
• Payments. Paid plans are sold and billed by Dodo Payments. From Dodo we receive your email, a Dodo customer ID, your plan, the end of the current billing period, whether you have scheduled a cancellation, and, for each payment, its ID, amount, tax, currency and invoice link. We never receive your card number. The payment history on your account page is fetched from Dodo when you open it.
• Partner (referral) programme. This programme is paused and we are not collecting data for it today. If it opens, we will store your referral code, referral counts, commissions and the payout details you enter (a UPI ID or PayPal address, up to 200 characters), and we will update this policy first.
• Technical data. Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser and referring page). Short-lived counters keyed to your IP address or email limit abuse, such as repeated sign-in attempts. For ChatGPT visitors who have not signed in, we briefly hold an anonymous identifier supplied by OpenAI to count sessions. We do not use any of this for advertising.

Cookies & analytics

We use no advertising cookies. Page counts come from self-hosted Plausible (served from analytics.adityaarsharma.com), which is cookieless. If you sign in to the account page we set two strictly necessary cookies: kj_acct (your sign-in session, 30 days) and kj_hint (a one-hour sign-in hint). If you arrive through a partner link, a referral cookie kj_ref may be set for 30 days.

Why we may use it (legal basis for EU and UK visitors)

• Contract: to provide the service you asked for, including your account, your plan and your billing.
• Legitimate interests: to keep the service secure, prevent abuse, fix problems and understand which features are used.
• Legal obligation: to keep records the law requires and to answer lawful requests.
• Consent: for the optional email list. You can withdraw it at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by writing to us.

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we process your data on the basis of the consent you give when you sign up and use the service, and for the other lawful uses the Act allows.

Who receives your data

• Hetzner – the server that runs the service (Helsinki, Finland).
• Cloudflare – content delivery and DNS.
• Dodo Payments – merchant of record for paid plans. It sells the plan to you, charges your payment method and calculates and collects applicable tax, under its own privacy policy.
• ZeptoMail – delivers sign-in and service emails to your inbox.
• Brevo – our email list; holds your email address and first name.
• Our own WordPress site (adityaarsharma.com) – runs our customer records and automated emails; it receives your email, name, plan and signup or billing events.
• Telegram – private alerts to the operator when someone signs up, buys, is refunded, disputes a charge or a payment fails; these alerts include the email address and, for signups, the name.
• The AI app you use (ChatGPT, Claude or another) – see “AI apps” below.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising. We may disclose it if the law requires.

AI apps

When you use Karma Jyotisha inside ChatGPT, Claude or another AI app, that app handles your conversation under its own privacy policy and settings. We receive only the inputs a tool needs, not the full conversation. To delete a conversation, use that app’s own controls.

International transfers

Our server is in Helsinki, Finland (Hetzner). We operate the service from India and access the data from there. The providers listed above may process data in other countries. If you are in the EU or UK, your data is therefore transferred outside your region. We send each provider only what it needs for its task.

How long we keep it

• Birth details and results: not kept. They exist in memory only while the request is processed.
• Account record (email, name, access token, plan, monthly counter): while your account is active, and deleted automatically after about 18 months without use. The 18 months restart each time your connector is used.
• Monthly usage counter: about 35 days, then it resets.
• Daily usage counts (by tool, topic and channel, and per account per day): up to 5 years.
• Sign-in codes: 10 minutes. Email sign-in links: 24 hours. Account sign-in session: 30 days.
• Abuse-limit counters: from a few minutes up to 26 hours. Anonymous ChatGPT session identifier: 30 minutes.
• Web server access logs: rotated monthly and kept for up to 12 months.
• Service health logs (event name, time and software version; on some events also a topic category from a fixed list, such as career or health, or the old and new rules version; no name, email or birth details): about 100 days.
• Backups: an hourly copy of our database is kept for about 3 days.
• Payments: Dodo Payments keeps payment and tax records under its own retention rules and the law. On our side we keep your plan status, Dodo customer ID and billing period end for as long as the account record exists, and a payment ID marker for 90 days to avoid duplicate processing.
• Email list and customer records: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
• Older sign-up records (email, name, source, plan label, date): no automatic expiry; kept until you ask us to delete them.
• Partner payout details (only if the programme opens): until you ask us to delete them.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, or stop using it, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Email [email protected] from the address on your account. We reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India or, if you are in the EU or UK, to your local data protection authority. Delete my data

1. Email [email protected] from the email address on your account, with the subject “Delete my data”. If you write from a different address, we will ask you to confirm from the account address first.
2. We delete your account record and access token, plan and usage counts tied to your email, sign-in sessions, your email-list entry, any older sign-up record, your customer record on our WordPress site and any partner payout details. If you have an active paid plan we cancel it so you are not charged again.
3. We reply within 30 days to confirm it is done.

What we cannot delete ourselves: payment and tax records that Dodo Payments keeps as merchant of record (ask Dodo about those); backup copies, which are overwritten within about 3 days; web server logs, which roll off within 12 months; and your conversations inside ChatGPT, Claude or other AI apps, which you delete in that app.

Children

If you are under 18, use it with a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly create accounts for people under 18 without a parent’s or guardian’s consent. Not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up without consent, write to us and we will delete the account.

Security and breach notification

We use HTTPS, passwordless one-time sign-in codes, access controls on our servers and admin tools, and rate limits. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, email registered users.
